365 Project-Day 112

April 15, 2011
112/365

Today Ryan had a soccer game. We normally have them on Saturdays, but this Spring we have a couple during the week.

My Ryan had a physical this morning and received three shots and while there we found out he and Zackery both had ear infections-neither one of them had been complaining of pain either. Along with the ear infection he had to get three shots.

Before the game started today I mentioned to the coach that I wasn't really sure how Ryan would play under the circumstances and what does he do? He brought it and he brought it hard. What a player. He scored the first goal and had three other attempts on the goal. My heart almost leapt out of my chest for that kid.

His team won 4 to 0. Ryan has never been on a team that works so well together. These kids pass like I have never seen before. They pass it back and forth just to get it up the field. They have played about 7 games so far and have only lost 1 and that was the very first game. We had only 1 practice before that game too. Word has gotten around about this team. So much that the coach from the first game we played came out tonight to watch them play (we will be playing this team again) and one of the club coaches came out. Club is the one that cost about 3x as much to put your kid in. Ryan was asked to go out and tryout for club. We took him to a few training days with the coach and decided we would wait for club.

So tonight, as the club coach was checking out our team-he needs a defense player for his club team so he was recruiting and asking me names-he asks who my kid is and I tell him. He tells me that Ryan was supposed to be on his team. He is on his roster. Ryan didn't actually tryout for club, but since he was on the All Stars Team this past fall he automatically was on the Club Team. This is what the coach had told the boys at one of the training practices. Who knew. Now he is telling us that we are welcome to still join the team since Ryan is on his list.

We were already contemplating if we should put him in fall ball since he moves up to U14 and he is little to most of those kids. So now it is the time for us to think. I am just not sure what to do. This club thing has presented itself to us a few times and I can't help but wonder if that is the path we are suppose to take since we were just talking about not putting him in soccer for fall since we were worried about the 14 year old kids he would play with. The higher the ages the rougher they get. Club is U13, but requires travel for games.

It is time to put it into God's hands...
