Today I was awakened by my husband. As he always does when he first gets home from work, he checks the pool for any dead creatures. So far we have had a bat, a rat, a bird and several baby mice in our pool. Today was a nice surprise, ducks. A female and a male duck sitting at the edge of the pool. I decided to try and creep out the side door to the backyard to try and get a quick picture before the flew away. Those birds have great hearing. The minute I reached the backyard they quickly got into the pool and swam to the other side. They walked around a little and then settled in for a nap. They were probably planning to stay the whole day. It was neat to see them stay close to each other. The bond between them. I don't know much about ducks, I wonder if they mate for life. The beauty of Love.
We tried to let them have some time in the backyard. I really didn't want to see them go. We even took both the dogs out front to go the bathroom. Finally my husband needing to get work done in the backyard, snuck out the back door and tried to feed them some bread. They quickly perked up when he came around the side. He started tossing bread out to them, but they didn't even flinch to jump into the pool to retrieve it. Too smart. The eventually decided he was an intruder and flew away.
That was really nice way to start the day. God's creatures taking a swim in my pool.
